Miscellaneous and AccessoriesTranslate this page
We can not confirm that Volkswagen ever used the 000-xxx-xxx-x part numbering. We use it here to classify any miscellaneous or accessory parts.
What are accessory parts? Anything that that is not factory or OEM parts or components. These type of parts include: louvers, ground effect lights, fur seat covers, Magnesium rims (MAG Wheels), Mud tires, winches, alarm systems and others. Amazingly, Dave and I have run into parts that are not classified by VW with a standard part number. These parts are bolts and nuts. They carry there own numbers like 10mmX15t. The easiest way to find out if a part is OEM or an accessory is to look in your Bentley manual. It shows all parts that are factory. Now you do not have to buy "Genuine VW" parts to get a part that will fit and will provide the same level of service or reliability. Several "aftermarket" companies produce some very fine parts, while others make garbage that lasts less that a year before splitting, cracking, breaking, or just plain failing. Also watch out for "Knockoff" parts. These parts look like, install like and sometimes work like good quality parts. But They DO NOT. Usually in a short period of time they will fail and at the worse possible time, like entering an Interstate or the Autobahn! Read more information on our Parts suppliers page
