I see you are needing parts to repair your Air cooled VW. Ok, so where do you go? You can go down to your local auto parts supply and maybe they have the right part. We would always give a one question test to any parts salesman to see if they really know auto parts or are just a cashier. Ask the salesman this: "I need a water pump for a 1961 Corvair and a water pump for a 1957 VW Bus" The Answer better be: "Niether of those have water pumps, both are air cooled! So, what parts are you in need of today?" Any other answer or they start looking it up in the books or on the computer, just leave the store. Reason: They don't know Air cooled VW.

So WHERE do I go? Well, there are a great number of parts suppliers that deal with Air cooled VW parts and some are selling only Air cooled parts. Avoid Wal-Mart when buying any automotive parts, since they tend not to back up manufacturers warranties, especially with Batteries. Dave had to go back TWICE to return a dead battery that was still within warranty (receipt showed date of purchase of 12/03/01, he took it back on 12/04/04)! All Ever-Start batteries carry a 72 month warranty (0-24 free replacement, 25-72 months pro-rated warranty). Wal-Mart also has the tendency of being a nightmare to return or replace any part or tools.

"How do I find these suppliers?" A very good question, I have you thinking. You can find them listed as advertisers in VW magazines. You can also find them buy doing a search on the internet, which is probably how you found this site. As of Sept 25, 2004, a search yielded me some 63,400 sites by using "air cooled Volkswagen parts" in my search. So yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and there are many parts suppliers.
