There are many types of racing.  motorcycles, auto, trucks, snowmobiles, power tools and on and on!

In the realm of auto and truck racing, many organizations sanction races.  Racing is fine as long as you go through one of these groups.  Most jurisdictions frown upon unrestricted racing in there areas!  Plus the penalties are high!

ARCA - Automobile Racing Club of America; Car and Truck racing

Badger Midget Auto Racing - Midgets are Similar to Sprint cars racing on dirt or paved tracks.

CART - Champ car racing.

CASCAR - Canadian Association for Stock Car Racing - Pro and Amateur stock car and truck racing.

CHCA- Colorado Hill Climb Association - Colorado based Hill climbing racing circuit. Has what can be classified as Sandrails as a part of the racing circuit. (Thank You, Justin K.)

CVAR - Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing Corp - uses cars built to 1972 SCCA classification.

Formula 1 / American LeMans / Lemans Racing (in French)-/ - Special built high speed cars on street or track racing.

Super Vee - is a class of open wheel racing that uses VW air-cooled engines with Formula 1 bodies. Formula V is another low-cost class; the suspension pieces and the motor are mostly based on the classic 1200cc VW bug. In some non-SCCA clubs, there is a 1600cc version of the Vee class, and 1600cc versions of the Vee are permitted in SCCA Solo II competition as well. IHRA - International Hot Rod Association - Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Modified Stock; Car,  Motorcycle and VW (see our Photo Gallery)

IMCA - International Motor Contest Association - has several classes of racing.

INEX - International Sanctioning body of the Legends, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster Cars - also see 600Racing.com

IRL - Indy Racing League - Indy cars.

IROC - International Race of Champions - Specially built, single manufacturer cars.  Race based upon only driver skill. See more on Official I.R.O.C. Racing Series Rules

NASCAR - National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing - "Stock" Car and Truck racing.  Highly modified, custom built.

NASA Drag Racing - National Auto Sport Association - arious types of racing, mostly sports cars. Rally racing.  Does include VW Drag Racing

- NorthEast Division:  Sports Car Club of America - various types of racing, mostly sports cars. Rally racing. Includes Formula Vee class

BITD - Best In The Desert - Nevada-based International desert racing series. Races and trail rides for cars, trucks, bikes and quads.

BPMS - Baja Promotions - BP Motorsports - Each event will offer multiple-laps featuring classes for all types of off-road and desert racing vehicles. Classes offered are for Motorcycles and ATVs to four-wheel buggies, Baja Bugs, Trucks and specialized desert vehicles.
 

CORR - Championship Off Road Racing - Eastern United States-based short course racing series. Races for cars and trucks.

FRT/Fud - FRT Motorsports Productions/Fud Races - Southern California and Baja-based desert and short-course racing series. Races for cars, trucks, bikes and quads.

MDR - Mojave Desert Racing - Southern California desert racing series. Races for cars and trucks.
