"TAZ"TAZ is a 1977 VW Type 1 Beetle. He originally came with Fuel Injection, but in 1985 Dave switched it over to a 34 PIC 3. As you can see on the left side is TAZ's current mileage. Total amount that Dave has spent (excluding $300 for purchase) in the last 20 years, $4,500. The figure includes tires and oil changes. You might ask "How did he do it?" Well, Maintenance is key to your VW! Read more about it on our Maintenance page. Many of the photos on this site are of TAZ and his components, parts and repairs. TAZ has the factory original transmission, on his third engine (cracked the gland nut on second engine) still has many factory original parts still in him. UPDATE: TAZ is close to his 400,000 mile celebration! AS OF May 16 2009 at 12:35 PM CDT TAZ has his 400,000 mile birthday!
